OBE TIPS + TECHNIQUES

from Tien Yen:
I haven't been doing this long enough to provide "tips," but I've noticed a few things.

Most of my lucid experiences have occurred under the following conditions:

Go to bed 10-11 p.m.

Wake up at 3-4 a.m. (I don't use an alarm clock-- it just happens).

Get up, read and/or have some tea/coffee -- whatever you like.

Go back to bed and practice some breath meditation -- i.e. just observe your breath going in and out.

When you start to slip away into sleep, try to remain conscious while you are "sliding" towards sleep.

As you're losing consciousness, say you're damn well gonna remember this!

Hey!  It works for me sometimes :)
from Izabela:
I don't know if these are tips, but hope they may help somebody.

Tien Yen's way (looks a little like Suneye method) always works for me.  I do it when I have to have an oobe.

Sometimes I go to bed only at 4-5 AM (too much work, party etc.). Physically I am exhausted.  My body gets asleep almost immediately, but my mind reminds fully awake.  After a short time trying to clean up my mind, the vibrations begin and I "get up."

In the mornings, after I wake up I don't move and enjoy watching the hypnopompic images.  I'm fully aware of my body, it is relaxed, but I relax even more.  The vibrations begin and I can go out.

I'm in a dream.  I realize that am dreaming and ask myself, "Is it a dream, or I am oob now ?"  Sometimes I tell myself, "I am oob."  Then I don't bother.  Sometimes I know that this is a dream.  Then I slightly wake up, open my eyes to make sure that am not asleep but keep my body relaxed.  Then I relax even more (always there is more) and the vibrations begin.

If only I could make those vibrations less violent.  Once they start they don't leave me all night.  I go out and come back several times in a night and cannot control it anymore.  It happens often that I stay half stuck in my body or I "swim" in it unable to leave.  Then I stretch my astral (?) hand out and up and ask for help. Usually it comes in the form of another hand which pulls me out.  But it's VERY important who you ask for help.  :)

from Lenny:
My best advice for you is to:

1) Don't get obsessed with it.

2) Don't think you'll learn anything practical from it.

3) Sleep with your mouth open.

4) Sleep to whatever side you want.

5) Try and go to sleep.  Don't try and have an OBE.

6) Take long naps in the afternoon.  Can't do that?  Nap on Saturdays and Sundays.

7) Have your hand making contact with some part of your body.

8) Fall asleep.

9) If you awaken in a state of paralysis (which is often accompanied by strong electrical sensations), try and increase the cycles per second of the
electrical sensation.

10) When it, "the force," can't become stronger, move out -- but don't move physically.

11) You're out.

Of the thirty or so times I've projected consciously, those steps are applicable.
